But, I always thought it was opposite from the comment above--cake has separated ingredients (shortening, sugar, eggs beaten smooth)then dry ingredients added to make a finer texture. Muffins--actually any breakfast food like pancakes, etc. you mix all the ingredients without doing a lot of beating, just stir until the ingredients are uniformly moistened.

You know I an NOT a good cook. I could be waaay wrong. Made me hungry though. I have been fasting all day for a colonoscopy tomorrow. A cake you tend to mix all the ingredients together at once, with a cupcake or Muffin, dry and wet ingredients are prepared separately then mixed together. If that sounds like an intelligent answer, its because it is. I could be wrong and I can find out for sure if it really presses you.Rohanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02498652288607809612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7714899406725646.post-87373490989776779032009-02-09T07:20:00.000-08:002009-02-09T07:20:00.000-08:00no difference except shape. First of all there's the shape. Muffins come out of a round tin, cake does not. But there are cupcakes, which are also round. So then it comes down to one thing: frosting. Cake is not cake unless there is frosting. So if that round morning baked good doesn't have frosting.....it's a muffin.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10474136700158211518noreply@blogger.com
