Sweeney Todd

Wyatt and I saw Sweeney Todd last night.

This Sweeney Todd:
Not this one.
Anyway, a man from my work has season tickets to the theater and couldn't go to this show so I ended up with the pair of tickets for free! Sweet! I must say, despite the recent publicity of the show (due to the Johny Depp movie), I really had no idea what it was about...except for the part about the demon barber. The show was entertaining in a sick and twisted kind of way. I did enjoy the lighter parts of the show - which were still pretty dark, aka: dark comedy. Other than that, I think I was too disturbed with the rest of the story to really enjoy it. I purposefully didn't read up on the show so it'd be a surprise when we went. Well, with all the singing and music playing, I was able to gather only half of the preface of the story. So when I asked Wyatt about it during intermission (he read Wikipedia) it put me over the top after I knew how the rest of the story went. Regardless of what musical theater show I'm attending, I just don't like the shrilling sound of both the instruments and women's opera voices. And this show had a lot of that. To sum my opinion up in a nut shell: First Act = okay, Second Act = enjoyed it, Third Act = could've done without. My favorite part of the whole show - when the Judge's lyrics to the song were "bom, bom, bom, bom, bom..."

I don't think I will ever see a movie just because Johnnie Depp is in it, so the play probably would not have interested me either. I enjoy a play now and then, but I can do without the darkness. Sorry your theater experience wasn't so good. Free is free, but free doesn't always equal quality, unfortunately.

This has nothing to do with Sweeney Todd. But in response to your comment: you should move here, two people moving makes more sense than four people moving, then we can all hang out. And second, we're in for the game. I totally didn't ask my husband and he will be bored but I will buy him some garlic fries and he will be happy. Email me and I will tell you all about south america and you can tell me how much for tickets. kelseyfox @ hotmail.com

Hey Brittany - thanks for your help with Jim & Bridger this evening. Jim just told me about the whole adventure. Sorry Bridger cried the whole time... hopefully he did not scar you for life.
Thanks again!
