Ta-Da!

I did it! I finished my project. Who knew sewing a swimsuit would be so difficult? There were several hours devoted to pulling out stitches... Not to mention the disproportionate body I have. Cutting the pattern was a chore in itself. My measurements really did fall into four of the five sizes: Torso, XL. Waist, M. Hips, S. Bust, XS...of course. And trying to alter the pattern to mimic this swimsuit, YIKES!

Thanks to my sister (the one who made this dress) who coached me through the process. Several times I had to resist the urge to throw my half-finished project in a box and ship it to her to finish the job. I'm really happy I didn't. Though I'm very aware that my new swimsuit looks very homemade. Oh well.

Fragile as a Flower

Brittany Ray

My mom-in-law is a dahlia collector. She has a garden full of them in a variety of shapes and sizes and...names. Two of the dahlias share the same name as two of her daughter-in-laws. So when she received the 2010 catalog from Swan Island she was thrilled to see they added a Brittany Ray to their collection.

Katharine decided to relieve my stress of what to buy her for Mother's Day and requested that Wyatt and I buy her the Brittany dahlia. Well, we were too slow for her liking so she decided to take matters into her own hands and order the dahlia herself (we'd reimburse her of course). With credit card in hand she called Swan Island to place her order. To her dismay, Swan Island told her they could not fulfill her order because, and I quote, "the Brittany dahlia died because it was too cold." HA! Coincidence? I think not.

Polka-dots

Just a little preview of summer...for me...if I'm disciplined...and skilled. And hopefully I'm referring to summer 2010 and not 2011. That's all I'm saying...
