Happy 1/2 Birthday to Me!!!!

I realize that the majority of the population observes this day as Valentines Day. But it is much more to me...today is my half birthday! I am officially 25.5 years old today. Happy day for me! I know what you're thinking, "who really celebrates their half birthday?" I'll have you know when I was 14 1/2 my mom threw me a surprise half-birthday party. It is probably the best birthday party I've ever had in my life - it was that good. And I NEVER suspected a thing! My mom is great because she knew I always got the shaft when it came my birthday parties. My real birthday is in August so having a party was not an easy feat. In order to have a summer birthday party you had to compete with everyone's summer vacations. So getting even half of the guest list to show up was a miracle. Not so with a half-birthday party. Fifteen of my friends were there to help me celebrate my 1/2 year - only two couldn't make it. I don't even remember what exactly we did - I just remember it being fun! I do remember cramming all fifteen of us into my mom's little Kia Sportage and having my other brother Brice drop each of my guests off at home, one-by-one. Thanks momma, for making such a fun memory for me!

I'm with you on the summer birthday thing...It stinks and mines at the beginning of the summer so I have the same problem as you, everyone is already leaving so no one came to my parties. I should start celebrating my 1/2 b-day too sounds like fun!

Shut your mouth! It is MY half-birthday today too, which I ALWAYS point out to people. That means... we are birthday twins!!! Oh that's so exciting, and happy half-birthday to you!

I'm so glad you remember that day in 1997 as a great one! It was for me, too. I was soooo excited the whole time I was planning the party. I could hardly wait for the big event myself. Dad was a total sweetheart about it because he kept you busy while everyone was arriving and you could be surprised.

Let me jog your memory--it was a game from each of your best previous birthdays, a true "Academy Awards Celebration" including

Production with best design--'Perfectly Preppy Prom'

Production with best performance in a biographical production--'Panda Patter'

Production with the highest budget expenditure--'Tijuana Shopping Spree'

Production with the most original choreography--'Talented Toes'

I miss all those family birthday parties--and all the fun we used to have. It is crappy being on the "once removed side" from all of you now.

Love, Momma

In response to Wyatt's query: surely it is half-way forward to our birthdays.

That's rad. Eric and I started celebrating 1/2 birthdays a couple of years ago, it's wonderful! There just aren't enough holidays in a year to use up all my celebrating skills. It's fun to find someone who shares the same values. =) Happy Belated Half Birthday!
