Over Rated (clap - clap - clap clap clap)!!!

Forward: What I am about to touch upon is a very controversial subject. It is not to be taken lightly.

The Chocolate Chip Cookie is...over rated! That is all there is to it. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a good chocolate chip cookie from time to time. And even more so, I really enjoy the cookie dough. But really, it isn't the greatest cookie ever. I think there are far more cookies out there that take the cake (is that cannibalism?) for the best cookie ever. I have no idea why it has gained such publicity and such high-favor among the human population. It's almost as if there are a bunch of CCC lobbyists making their voice be heard on capital hill. C'mon! Could you get more boring?!!!

Let's examine a few of my favorites that I think surpass the CCC:

1. Sugar Cookie (my mom's recipe with sour cream and nutmeg)
2. Snickerdoodle
3. No-Bake Cookie
4. Macaroon
5. Gingersnap
6. Molasses
7. Russian Tea Cookie
8. Pumpkin

To those who think the CCC is the best cookie ever, I urge you to break out of your comfort zone. Go explore the world of cookies! There is more to life than brown sugar and chocolate chips!

You Forgot the White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie, those are by far the best cookie ever.

I've always thought that too. CCCs are kinda boring. Although, at college I won many a friends (mostly boys) by making chocolate chip cookies!

I dig CCCs, however they aren't the BEST cookie ever.

I prefer mine made with oatmeal and cinnamon in them. The standard CCC just doesn't do it for me like it used to.

I do love sugar cookies and pumpkin (but you know I like having chips in those as well) and the tea cookies (buttery heaven).

I disagree. A warm chocolate chip cookie and a tall cold glass of milk surpass the efforts of any secondary cookie including those listed here. None of the cookies mentioned can hold a candle to a warm chocolate chip cookie. It's un-American to dislike chocolate chip cookies. It's un-Alot-of-Other-Countries too.

oh boy, i better not let billy see this post. while i whole heartedly disagree with you...billy has VERY STRONG feelings on the chocolate chip cookie. whenever my mom makes anything different he gives her a very hard time. in fact he gives everyone a hard time if they make something different than the CCC. i'll take a choco chip cookie over any other cookie any day. AND, the reason why it is so popular is because it is the BEST! sorry. geez, maybe i should post my rebuttal on my blog since this is so lengthy. nah.

I too love the sugar cookie (please share your mom's recipe with us, sounds delicious), snickerdoodle and molasses crinkle. But I'm always game for a chocolate chip cookie so long as it hasn't been defiled by nuts.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've always thought that same thing.

Ok, while I agree that the CCC is not the "best cookie ever" it is a pretty good one, even better than a plain CCC is the dough. That is where my true love comes in.

And while it is not the most exciting cookie out there it will forever remain a staple in my cookie arsenal.

I like my chocolate chip cookies--WITHOUT the chocolate chips since I'm not a fan of CC's. Now my idea of a good cookie is the CCC dough without the CC's but loaded with NUTS!

As for the best cookie...soft ones rate tops with me. That includes the molasses cookie, the soft sugar cookies, the carrot cookies, the chocolate drop cookies (almost like a chocolate cake cookie--I can "do" this kind of chocolate because it is not a great piece of cookie scattered throughout with hunks of hard, bitter or semi-sweet, or even milk chocolate. Ruins the cookie totally.

I know, I know. I am strange and often considered not a "real" woman because I don't crave chocolate, and most often can do without it.

No way! I love CCC!!!! They are my favorite, and you know I have tried it all! ;) There is nothing like a warm gooey CCC with melting choco chips...uh-oh Im hungry now! Actually I think I should start that CCC lobbyist group! ;)

I am inclined to agree with you. The CCC is over rated, but I'm okay with that. I like them anyway. But I do really, really like sugar cookies and snickerdoodles.....maybe I should make some tonight.

Hold it right there young lady. The great Miss Ruth Wakefield must be rolling in her grave (see, her full name is Ruth Graves Wakefield, so I made a pun off of her name). But anyway, she is the mastermind behind The CCC and Toll House. There is something to be said about the simplicity of The CCC. It doesn't need all the bells and whistles. The fancy and schmancy. The glitz and glamour. Just classic ingredients and a glass of milk. I agree with you on many a subjects, but this I cannot. Sorry. By the way, Hi! it's Yany. You know, of Meghan fame.

I haven't ever really thought about which cookie I like the best..it is funny because it depends on the mood that I am in...I think that my favorite, if I had to pick would be the peanut butter cookies with milk of course!

I just had some CCC dough. (I know, a healthy, well balanced morning snack.) And I loved it! I don't mind just sticking with what I know I like. However, next time we have you guys over, we will be sure to have something other than cookies. :)

Right on! Chocolate Chip is crap! Its nice to see that I am not alone in thinking this. And I love that you took the time to blog about it.

I have been wanting chocolate chip cookies lately, and returning to your blog this reminds me where I probably got the idea in the first place. I made some last night, and let me just say, SO GOOD. Clap clap clap indeed. They are still good for breakfast. You need to check your tastebuds.

Your list may be the worst list of all time. No bake cookie in the top 10, now that is a shame. Wyatt may be on to something about you not being american. Add the fact that you think hockey is a great sport maybe you are canadian. Ccc are clearly number one and it isn't even close. Oatmeal raisin, and thin mints and samoas girl scout cookies should also be on the list, and none of the one you listed should be on their.

Pretty much all I have to say about CCC's is...blech. Yes, that's right: BLECH. Totally agree Britty. In fact, there are few baked goods that rise above the 'blech' factor for me. However, one, for example, snickerdoodles. I can enjoy a good snickerdoodle IF I'm in the mood.

Hi this is Aaron, of Kelsey and Aaron. If your mom's sugar cookies are the same as my Great Grandma's then it is definitely #1. Also, your inclusion of no-bake (we call 'em O'Henries) and Russian Tea Cookies (Russian Tea Cakes) shows a depth and quality of cookie aficion that few possess. I look forward to some captain crunch donuts (probably not better than CCCs) on our next trip south.

Might I also recommend the "Merry Mallow Fudgie"?
